I found this interesting little tidbit in our local newspaper:100 years ago Dec. 20, 1902 CONWAY — W. T. Piercy, a business man, was slashed with a knife and seriously wounded by Frank Dukes, a 16-year-old lad. Young Dukes was in Piercy’s store, and it is said he was swearing. Piercy expostulated with him and Dukes resented it, with the result as stated.
According to my dad, swearing around ladies and children was a killing offense back in those days. My, how things have changed. When was the last time you saw "expostulated" in a newspaper?
