Travelling was pretty uneventful, security personnel were very nice & efficient. I was waiting for my things to come through the x-ray at DFW and heard over the loudspeaker a garbled announcement about a blue baby buggy backpack. Everyone cracked up, especially when the voice tried to repeat the announcement very slowly.After my son's graduation, we all went for lunch with some of his buddies. Great bunch of kids, though it was somewhat bittersweet knowing where some of them would be leaving for later that day. By this time, the lack of sleep & my bad choice for lunch caught up with me, and I spent most of the rest of the day & night in bed. The next day we went to the San Diego zoo, which was great fun. We worked our way up to the top of the hill & rode the sky gondola back down. My sis had to remind my son that getting kicked out of the Navy for being arrested for spitting from it on a giraffe was probably not a good idea.
The Santa Ana winds had kicked up when we left the zoo, and I got to see my first tumbleweed. I was so excited that I got to run over one the size of a washing machine in the rental car. (I know, I'm easily amused.) My son took us on the grand tour of Coronado Island, which was beautiful. I had to wade in the surf, of course, which was freezing! We watched the sun set, took some great photos, and went back to Oceanside to have dinner together.
Sounds pretty boring now that I'm writing about it, but we spent the whole time with my son, which we all enjoyed. He flew to Japan yesterday, and is supposed to be posted there for a year. I miss him already.
