Eustis, Florida
Eustis, Florida
Nice article in the New York Times this morning about central Florida (the non-Mickey part). My father-in-law and some of the family live in Eustis, which is about 30 miles out of Orlando. Nice little town, as is neighboring Mt. Dora. We spent July 4th there with my husband's family. We took Mike's dad and brother to nearby Lake Dora for the fireworks display that night, and had a great time. It was a bit disconcerting for this old hillbilly to sit & watch the gators cruising the shore where all the kids were playing, but the gators cleared out once the fireworks started. It's actually a great place to visit, pretty laid back and quiet, pretty country too. And it's only about an hour's drive to Daytona, if you want some beach time. Of course Mickey's a short drive away too, if you like that kind of thing. We stayed away, cuz those people scare me. It's just not normal to be that perky & cheerful all the time.
