The Cat

The Cat

Wake up unable to breath with cat in my face, meowing. Throw cat in floor, go back to sleep. Repeat every 5 minutes until 30 minutes later, cat lands on dog. Very loud but brief scuffle until cat jumps back on bed. Get up, put cat in other bedroom, close door, go back to bed. Realize it's 4:30 a.m. and dogs are now wide awake. Probability of dogs going back to sleep and not having "accident" on floor is zero. *Sigh* Curse cat. Take dogs out. Realize it's 47 degrees outside and now I'm wide awake. Curse cat profusely.

I should explain. It's not that I don't like the cat, I do. But when I was a small child, I was violently allergic to cats. I've largely outgrown that, as long as they're not up in my face. Then my sinuses get all clogged, eyes start to swell, all that fun stuff. Hence, the cat is not allowed on the bed. That, and her tendency to vomit up hairballs while there. Always on my side of the bed, too. You see, kitty loves me, in her own dysfunctional cat way. I feel so...honored.
