Absurd Site of the Week

Absurd Site of the Week

This site is dedicated to abolishing all age restrictions that "discriminate" against minors. For everything. (Link via CollegeHumor) Check out their "Declaration of Principles." It simply cries out for a good Fisking, but I unfortunately don't have time this morning. Suffice it to say that there are legitimate reasons why teen-agers aren't allowed to drink, vote, or decide whether or not they go to school. Just as there are reasons why credit card companies, car rentals and hotels won't do business with minors.

And there are already procedures by which a mature teen-ager can become, for legal purposes, an adult. You petition your local court for emanicipation, and if you prove to the judge's satisfaction that you are sufficiently mature to assume the responsibilities, he waves his magic wand and presto, chango! You're an adult. However, the court system doesn't allow "do-overs" as the authors of this site would like. Like the rest of us, once you're considered an adult, there's no going back. Welcome to reality, kid.
