Babs & Other Idiots
Babs & Other Idiots
I was reading this in this morning's Washington Times about various Hollywood stars and their opposition to the war against Iraq when suddenly this sentence jumps out at me."Miss Streisand also called Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein an "Iranian" on her Web site Thursday; the geographical gaffe has since been corrected."
Now we all know where this came from, our own Rachel Lucas. Yep, Rachel ran across this little gem on October 16th, wrote a great rant about it, and told Drudge, who posted it. And so it makes the rounds and ends up in the Washington Times 3 days later. Such is the power of the Blogosphere. Isn't it awesome?
While most of the so-called "stars'" statements I've read are totally inane (Woody son, you've obviously been smoking way too much weed), I agree with the Robert Thompson quote in the article. "It's tempting to just say 'shut up' when actors debate issues of such great magnitude...but they are citizens, part of the debate and part of ideas we are free to consider." Yes, consider, and ridicule their total stupidity when appropriate. Way to go, Rachel. You TOTALLY ROCK!
UPDATE: Wow! It's also in a UK's Telegraph op-ed:
This week, in her latest statement, Barbra has accused Republicans of misrepresenting her "deep opposition to the Iranian dictator, Saddam Hussein". Saddam would like to be the Iranian dictator, but he tried that in the 1980s and it didn't work out.
Look what you done started, Miss Rachel. Good job!
