Monster

Monster

I've created a monster. I felt so sorry for our pug, Sollie, who has been shivering non-stop since the temperature dropped, that I decided to do something I had always sworn I would never do---buy him a sweater. I think clothes on dogs are just silly, generally, but the poor little guy has been miserable. And it's not even been that cold yet. Anyway, last weekend we buy him a little navy dog sweater... too small. So we go to get a bigger one. Unfortunately, the only one they had that wasn't pink was rust and creme striped. We got it on him, and my husband asked what I thought. It looked so...totally gay. It made him look like his name should be...Steve and maybe we should tie the other sweater casually around his shoulders. But he loved it. He thought he was one styling pug. We put him outside later, and he started barking at a jogger going by on the sidewalk. My husband said, "You know he's probably saying "Haaa-aaay, do this stripes make my hips look big?""

It's been a bad running joke with us since. I did go buy him different sweater though, solid light blue with a dark blue jacquard design. I just couldn't take the stripes. He was so excited, "I got new clothes!" He'll probably start wanting me to take him clothes shopping next. Though I did see this really cute denim doggie jacket with a fleece lining....
