Child Welfare Workers

Ran across an article this morning, courtesy of Fark, that describes the conditions often found by child welfare workers during an investigation of possible child abuse. And I'll warn you, if you have a weak stomach, don't click on the link. I'm not kidding. One of the cops helping with the investigation barfed because of the conditions in this house.

Here is the story. I'm posting it for all the good workers with whom I work to show you what kind of work they do. I am heartly grateful that I don't have to go into these places & spend extended amounts of time documenting what's there. They tell me that they often have to burn their clothes afterwards, because there is nothing on earth that will take out that smell that soaks in while they're there.

But I'm glad they can do it. There's nothing like having photos & videos of these types of conditions to show a jury....truly priceless.

Good argument for forced sterilization, if you ask me.

Subhuman filth.

Yep.

Did you notice that she had 3 children under the age of 3 and another one on the way?

At least she had the decency to threaten to harm herself.

Idle threat, perhaps. So where is Johnny Stud? They should share adjoining cells.

What amazes me is there are some that want to "reunify" these famlies, I can not tell if they are utter fools or bloodless beancounters that measure the cost rather than consider the children. Next life I'm gonna be a hermit!

Reunification attempts are required under most states' laws, except for certain exceptional circumstances. In Ark. & Okla., this type of environmental neglect by itself would probably not be enough for immediate termination of parental rights and reunification would have to be attempted.

I know, a waste of time & resources...but I have seen it work occasionally if you can get the parents off drugs (usually the underlying cause).
