Bombing Refugees
We've heavily bombed northern Iraq, and the residents are fleeing...but not for the reason the anti-war crowd would have you believe.
"People are evacuating, but not because of the bombing. They are afraid Saddam will respond with chemical weapons," said Ahmad Qafoor, a schoolteacher.
You know, those weapons he doesn't have & didn't previously use against the Kurds. [/sarcasm]
I suspect there's several things going on here. One is the obvious overall war campaign against Saddam's troops wherever they're located. Another is I think we're planning to use the airfields in that area to bring in troops & equipment since Turkey refused to let us use theirs. And it'll serve as a friendly reminder for Turkey to keep their skinny asses over on their side of the line and away from the Kurds.
Multi-tasking...it's what we do best.
