TTFN, Peter

It's official, Arnett has been fired by NBC.

"It was wrong for Mr. Arnett to grant an interview to state-controlled Iraqi TV, especially at a time of war," NBC spokeswoman Allison Gollust said. "And it was wrong for him to discuss his personal observations and opinions in that interview."

No shit Sherlock, ya think? And what does Peter have to say for himself?

Arnett, on NBC's "Today" show on Monday, said he was sorry for his statement but added, "I said over the weekend what we all know about the war."

"I want to apologize to the American people for clearly making a misjudgment," Arnett said.

Which misjudgment would that be Peter? That our "first war plan had failed because of Iraq's resistance"? Or that reporters should, I don't know, report the news and not insert their personal opinions? Or maybe that brown-nosing reporters shouldn't give interviews to TV stations run by nations with which we are at war?

How about all of the above?

OK, so tell me why they hired him in the first place???

It's not like he's never done this before....

For his balanced point of view, of course. For his contacts and because they thought they could control him.

I think the only misjudgment he thinks he made was believing he would get away with his seditious behavior. At least now he is free to pursue that fulfilling career at Saddam TV.

FOX reports that he has already been hired up by some British outfit. It sounded like a pretty minor one, though.

Oh, you must mean the BBC.
