Local Smoking Ban Update
The smoking ban will considered at the July 15th city council meeting, not July 1st. Here's a list of some of places where smoking will be banned by the proposed ordinance:
Bars, taverns, nightclubs, cocktail lounges, cabarets, etc.
Restaurants, cafeterias, cafes, coffee shops, etc.
Health spas, roller rinks, bowling alleys, and other indoor sports or recreation facilities, including pool halls.
An outside area within a reasonable distance of 15 feet from a main entrance to an enclosed area in which smoking is prohibited.
Enclosed places of employment and work places if a nonsmoking employee is present or regularly enters or uses that portion of an enclosed place of employment or work place.
Business vehicles with at least one nonsmoker as an occupant.
No smoking in pool halls? That's just so wrong...practically anti-American.
Like my momma allus said, if some people would pay as much attention to mindin' their own business as they did mindin' mine, they'd be a lot better off. Next thing you know they'll be trying to make us switch from butter to margarine.
And you'll get my stick of butter when you pry it out of my cold, dead hands....which wouldn't be as easy as it sounds.

No, no. Margarine is the New Evil, because of trans-fatty acids. TFAs are apparently the devil's brylcreem, and make your heart seize up like an old Ford with a hole in the oilpan. That, or they make your brain liquify. Something like that.
Margarine is evil. EVIL!
I'm now going home and spreading lots of "I Can't Believe it's Not Butter!" on my tongue.

Ugh! I hate margarine. When I sit down to a big breakfast of eggs fried in lard, I want a big pool of real butter floatin' on top of my grits...and a thick spreading of butter on my rye toast. And a pound or two of bacon fried in its own grease.
Now them some good eats!
And yeah I eat like that all the time. At last count, my cholesterol was 155, high in the good kind and low in the bad kind. It's all in the genes.

I fry my eggs in the bacon drippings. Mmmmmmm.
Makes for 'specially good scrambled eggs, though I do drain off some of the grease beforehand. I'm not THAT into bacon grease.
My Mom rendered lard quite often. She used to put the cracklings in her biscuits, too.
And my cholesterol is just fine as well, thanks. As is my blood pressure, blood sugar, and other things that are supposed to be the dire consequences of fatty foods and too much weight.

Sounds like you may have to go to Oklahoma to have a smoke!

At least outside of city limits anyway.

I agree about the pool hall thing. A pool hall w/o smoke, or a coffee pot for that matter, is just wrong.

OK, some moron, i.e. me, can't freakin' type. I meant coffee _bar_.

Whew! You were starting to scare me there Bob, cuz I knew I'd seen a lot of things in a pool hall, but never a coffee pot.
