Friday Five

1. What time do you wake up on weekday mornings? Between 5 & 5:30 am. I like to have a chance to injest caffeine & get awake before Mike gets up....makes the mornings much more pleasant for us both.

2. Do you sleep in on the weekends? How late? Hahahahaha! Sleep in? We have an Akita, a breed of dog which is more obsessive about her routine than just about anything you can imagine. She occasionally will let me sleep in until 6 am on weekends....though usually then she frantically wakes me up because the alarm didn't go off, I didn't get up at the usual time and she thinks something's wrong. She's an exceptionally smart dog but she just doesn't get weekends.

3. Aside from waking up, what is the first thing you do in the morning? Put on my bathrobe so I can stumble through the house & take the dogs out. Much like toddlers, they're way more excited about the crack of dawn than I. By the time we get back inside, the cat's usually squalling to be let in or out. It's not very pleasant, and I usually end up wondering once again why we have all these damn animals. Then Sollie plops himself in my lap for some Puggy love & snuggles and I remember why.

4. How long does it take to get ready for your day? Depends on what my plans for the day are. If I have court, an hour or so. If not, a very long time. I'm such a slug in the mornings....a grumpy slug too.

5. When possible, what is your favorite place to go for breakfast? My kitchen. Both of us can cook a better breakfast than any restaurant. If we happen to go out, our favorite places are Jerry's Restaurant...the only place in town that makes decent grits, great truckstop style waitresses too. It's impossible to have an empty coffee cup there. Or the Common Grounds, a little coffee shop down on Dickson Street that makes great non-traditional type breakfasts.

Speaking of which, since I've been awake since 3:30 am thanks to Mike's stupid pager, I'm getting kinda hungry. I think I'll go fire up the skillet.
