Annoying

Dear SBC Yahoo,

When rollling out a new update to your browser in the future, you might want to consider the following:

A. Make sure that your automated download, I don't know, ACTUALLY FREAKING WORKS.

B. Preparing a more helpful error message than "There's a problem with our automated download. Please retry."

C. When a dowload error occurs, make sure there's a more effective backout than SKIPPING THE DOWNLOAD OF THE ONLY SERVICES I FREAKING WANT.

D. Including contact information for the help desk.

Please ignore these suggestions if your only intent was to REALLY PISS ME OFF. That part worked superbly.

Sincerely,

Your customer

You should have known better than to trust SBC.

After their merger with Yahoo!?#@ and the massive increase in pop ups, ads and garbage I knew the fix was in.

So when the "update" button popped up I did not click it. As I knew it would either not work or would just be more gunk to wade through after I was "upgraded" into a slower interface.

So, don't bother with the update for a couple of weeks, because by then their will be a new one that reduces your useable functions to the left hand 1 inch of the screen.

I finally got it to install by doing a little troubleshooting on my own. Right now they're pretty much the only DSL available here, so I'll put up with the occasional annoyance. For now.

Try responding to an SBC mailer that says "If you'd like to be removed from listings that allow SBC and its affiliates to contact you about special offers we feel would be of interest to you, please call 1-800-xxx-xxxx, return this form to the address on the back of this card or, for residential service, you may visit our website at http://www.sbcxxxxxx.com/res.optout" and find that 1) no one at the phone number listed knows what the hell you're talking about, 2) there is no address on the back of the card, and 3) the website doesn't exist.

Yes, SBC is one of my favorites.

That's why I went to RoadRunner.

Sounds like the email I got from their tech support:

"If you're having problems, then don't install the parts that are causing problems."

Yeah, that was real helpful. I swear Sollie is more qualified than some of the tech support staff with whom I've had the dubious pleasure of dealing.
