Age-Old Question
If I write a post and it doesn't ping, does anyone read it?
I didn't think so.
Ping, damn you. Ping!

I'm not familiar with ping, but I read every word you place on this page. Would a more noisy expression of appreciation be helpful?

Ping is the method by which MT notifies everyone that I've updated with a new post. AT&T was having "issues" that were affecting my site host, I later discovered.
It was rather like talking to the wall yesterday afternoon.

They read. Until recently, I hadn't pinged for months.
Faith, honey. Faith.
We all come here whether we see "RECENTLY UPDATED!" next to your name or not.

You can sure tell when the DOS attacks occurred by looking at my stats. Bastards!
I'm giving serious thoughts to starting a backup site on another host just for such occasions. It's the only thing I can think of that I could do to combat them.

If it refuses to ping, I would just yell "PING" loudly to make myself feel better. Better yet, you very welcome to give us a call and yell "PING" into our answering machine.
