Exceeds Expectations
Last night being another one of those "52 channels and there's nothing on" kind of nights, we watched a DVD we'd borrowed from my daughter...."Matrix:Reloaded". I have to say it exceeded our expectations.
It was even worse than we thought.
You know a movie is rilly, rilly bad when you start making up your own dialogue halfway through the very first scene.
Sheesh.

Personally, I don't see what the fuss is all about. I thought it was a good movie, stilted dialog aside. I basically ignore all the supposed philosophy/deep thinking. Just gets in the way of the fight scenes.
Any more, I go into all movies with no expectations other than to see lots of explosions.
Jeez, how jaded *am* I?

Too many gratuitous CGI scenes & not enough explosions. The dialogue was a hoot. I loved it at the end when "the One" tells Morpheus that the prophecy was false....creating that endless circular logic looping scene. If the prophecy is false, Keanu can't be "the One"...but he is "the One" so the prophecy must be true. But "the One" just said the prophecy was false....ad infinitum.
Took Morpheus several minutes of bad acting to find Ctrl-Break for that one.

The best line was at the beginning of the movie (which I just saw this weekend): "hmm, upgrades". I cracked up at that one. Alright, no need to tell me I have a really sad sense of humor.

Making up dialogue, been there done that - not with Matrix Rehashed though.
"Dialogue, you mean that speaking stuff?" Where is the Jane Austin of movie making when you need her?

Our parents used to get really mad at us for making up dialog and for ripping movies, television, etc. "Can't you just *watch* the show?"
Probably why I'm such an MST3K fanboy.

Oh, and the third movie has explosions galore. :-)

The movie was definitely better with our dialogue. An example: we changed the scene where Keanu & the senator guy were talking about the machinery that ran Zion into one where the older guy was extolling the virtues of Viagra. Heh.
I've always done that Keith...though it was usually my kids telling me to stop it. And the secretary at my old law office, who used to watch soaps during her lunch break....she would get really pissed at me. Something about ruining the story for her.
