Something Wrong Here
Today is my first payday since starting my new part-time job. I was pretty excited about getting my first in what I hope is a long series of regular paychecks until I remembered something.
I once sat down and figured out my average per-hour payrate as a children's attorney. Because of the length of the average case, about 1 1/2 yrs., and the statutory limits on what I was paid per case, my average pay was a little less than minimum wage.
That's right.
I'm making more per hour as a cashier than I did as an attorney for abused children. A lot more.
There's something very wrong with that.
The next time some politician tells me that he or she is going to do something for The ChildrenTM.....buddy are they going to get an earful.
Or a smack upside the head.

Holy cow. That's pretty bad.
Are you ever planning to work as an attorney again?

Yes, I plan to return to work after I get my computer degree. The cashier thing is just temporary. The pay is good, and they will work around my class schedule. Not a bad deal.

When the Spousal Unit™ was teaching, we figured out her hourly wage to be just around 3.00/hr.
There's only a certain amount of the s*** sandwich you can eat for that much bread.

True dat my friend.
It's disturbing to see how those who care for, protect and/or teach our children are among the lowest paid of any profession. And they're expected to do it willingly because it's for the Children.
That's all well & good, but it doesn't pay our bills does it?
