Prediction

You're going to see a whole lot more of this. (Link via Instapundit)

For better or worse, the days of the internet being the online equivalent of a wide-open Wild West cowtown are over.

The lawyers has done rode into town....black hats 'n all.

Wait..........they're JUST NOW getting around to taking action?

Pucker-butts.

I don't think it's the first round in internet-related patent litigation. Previously, there was Amazon.com/Barnes & Noble litigation (one click shopping), as well as the Bidder's Edge/eBay case (use of computer resources by web crawlers as trespass to chattel).

And then there are numerous trademark cases involving domain names.

I think this is more a continuance of a trend rather than the start of one. (Though the thought of an spaghetti Western featuring lawyers amuses the hell out of me.)

Regards,
Tony
