Tough Little Town

Ft. Smith, Arkansas, hasn't gotten that far away from its frontier past. Folks down there don't put up with much nonsense from anyone....like this kidnapped doctor. (Link via Fark)

The search for accused double murderer Scott Eizember is over. Police in Lufkin, Texas say Eizember is hospitalized in stable condition after being shot four times by a man he allegedly kidnapped Sunday.

Eizember allegedly shot & killed two people in Texas, shot a teenaged girl and beat up her grandmother. He then stole a vehicle from an elderly woman, drove to Ft. Smith, then kidnapped a doctor & his wife at gunpoint, forcing them to drive him back to Texas. Big mistake.

Eizember forced them to travel south, where, near Lufkin, Texas, Dr. Peebles was able to retrieve a handgun that he had concealed in the minivan and shot Eizember four times in the chest area.

The good doctor then drove Eizember to the hospital, where he underwent surgery and is expected to recover.....to face trial in Texas.

Too bad there's not more towns like Ft. Smith.

Too bad there's not more states that allow people to carry handguns. Good on the doctor and Long Live the Second Amendment!

Nice grouping, Doctor!

You're supposed to have a permit to carry here, but it didn't say whether the good doc had one. I doubt if anyone cared.

He must've had a 9mm if he shot the guy 4 times in the chest & didn't kill him. I'd just as soon have a handful of rocks.

A 9mm isn't great, but it beats nothing. I'd bet he wouldn't have fared as well from my .40 or .357, both filled w/ Winchester Silvertips. ;)

It was a .22!

First of all the story is all wrong, he killed a couple from Depew, OK. then shot a 16 year old boy, and beat his grandmother, also the good doctor did not drive Scott Eizember to the hospital. I would say if your going to tell a story at least get it right, or don't bother. I'm sure the dead couple's children wish it was a couple from somewhere else, well that's probably not true, they aren't the kind of people that would wish that on anyone, and then when they see stories like this one, it makes things worse than they already are. And a closing statement, You might wish there were more towns like your's but you are lacking in getting facts before report, its kind of like "talking out your ass, because your mouth knows better".

Thanks for the corrections Lucy. Looks like the local news got most of the facts wrong in their initial reports.

Speaking of talking out your ass before you check the facts, I don't live in Ft. Smith so it's not my town.

And there's no apostrophe in "yours".
