Wonders Never Cease
The NY Times has admitted it was wrong about Bush's policy towards Libya.
In a Dec. 20 editorial, the newspaper said, "This page recommended lifting American sanctions ... but President Bush left them in place pending further steps, most notably Libya's decision to end its unconventional weapons programs. It is now clear that he was right to do so. The added American pressure worked just as intended."
Personally I think the NY Times is still wrong....the fall of Saddam's regime had more to do with Libya's apparent change of heart than sanctions. But still, like Cal Thomas said:
Applying moral equivalency in negotiations with dictators is like taking a used car salesman at his word without inspecting the vehicle.
Whether or not Gadhafi really means to get rid of his WMD destruction program remains to be seen. But one thing is clear.
He at least sees which way the wind is blowing in the Middle East.
