Blame Canada
Alberta, Canada has been tenatively identified as the origin of the mad cow infected Holstein.
Dr. Ron DeHaven, chief veterinarian for the Agriculture Department, said Canadian officials have provided records that indicate the animal was one of a herd of 74 cattle shipped from Alberta, Canada, into this country in August 2001 at Eastport, Idaho.
They're now trying to track down the other 73 cows from the herd.
We noticed while grocery shopping this morning that all the media hysteria hasn't seemed to have affected the price of steaks yet. But we did pick up some good deals on ground round.
Diseased dead cow. It's what's for dinner.
