Hijab Jihad?

The recent airline crash may have been no accident.

A press release issued this week by an al Qaeda affiliate out of Yemen claimed responsibility for the "downing of the airplane" with hundreds of French passengers and lost over Egypt. The claiming party, a man with an Egyptian accent, said he represents Ansar al Haq, an off-shoot of bin Laden's organization. But worse is that the man threatened more strikes if "Paris continues with its anti-hijab policy."

Of course, it's more likely that they are taking credit for what was really a tragic accident, but maybe not. Immediately after Chirac's speech about the banning of the hijab in schools, al-Jazeera broadcast this from a Qatar Muslim cleric:

"By all means and in all that we can do, we must resist and fight. The Arab world, the Muslim world and all Mujahedin around the world must help their brothers and sisters in France."

All that over something my beloved grandmother called a "head rag"*.

Ridiculous.

*as in "Hyear, you better git this head rag on afore yew go out to keep the wind outta yore y'ears." Because, as we all know, letting the wind blow unimpeded into your "y'ears" would inevitably lead to an "y'earache"....which could lead to the dreaded "new-moanie fever".
