Technicolor Squirrels
Do dogs dream? I think they do. We've all seen them yip and growl in their sleep.....those are not pleasant dreams I suspect. But earlier today I was sitting on the couch, plowing through a reading assignment....my trusty pug sleeping beside me. He started doing that paw twitching thing....then tenative wags of his tail. Which began to wag faster and faster, so fast that I couldn't believe he was still asleep.
I leaned around my book to take a peek and I swear the dog was smiling....and sound asleep. I dunno what he was dreaming, but it was a very happy pug dream.

I once heard human dreaming described as "the pulse of the brain at rest". The speaker went on to say that fragments within that pulse are probably related to whatever the dreamer was thinking about before he or she went to sleep, and that the dreams will probably incorporate behavioral patterns that the dreamer engages in while awake. My dog is my constant companion. She is the first thing I see every morning and the last thing I see every night, and she is often in my dreams. I'm sure that she dreams and that I am occasionally in them (somewhere among the rabbits, birds, and other creatures that she keeps chased out of her yard).

I look at dreams as my brain's way of amusing itself until I wake up.
