Man or Mouse?
Another experiment for the "Things We Don't Need" category:
Mice have been used to produce viable monkey sperm using tissue transplanted from the testes of macaques....It might also be possible to grow human sperm in mice, although the team agree this would be a controversial move.
Ya think?

Didn't know we were short of spuzz. Monkey or human. I'm reasonably certain that there's plenty of spuzz to be had. All a girl's gotta do is ask.

I've never had to ask.

In her description of her research, Dr. Dobrinski states that "Germ cell transplantation and testis tissue xenographting are novel, exciting research areas with tremendous potential ........". I felt tremendously sad at that point and couldn't finish the paragraph. It must take a very special person to be able to scrape the excitement out of the bottom of that barrel.

Now that you have a kid maybe you've forgotten the lengths some people would go to to have kids? Heck, I'd like to think I'm relatively average in my desire for kids, but if I found out I was sterile, I just might let some monkey grow me some sperm. And I'm not even trying to have a kid right now.
Sure, there's adoption, borrowed sperm, etc. But they won't look like you, and that's half the fun :-P

Just think of the poor bastard that's got to jerk the little mice off to get the samples!

Aaron, maybe you're forgetting that I worked in child welfare law for the last 6 yrs. and have participated in a ka-jillion adoptions. Yes, I've had 2 kids, raised a 3rd that wasn't my natural child, and currently have 2 stepkids. I don't see that the 2 that look like me are any different than the rest....except that I had to endure 25 & 12 hrs. of hard labor respectively to get 'em. It's a lot easier to miss that part. :p
Jim, I knew you and Ralph would have fun with this one. ; )

Oh, I misunderstood -- I thought by "things we don't need" you meant that people wouldn't used it.

No, by "things we don't need" I mean there's better ways to get babies than hybridization with another species.
