Fugly Mutant
There's new photos up. I apologize for the lack of quality. My hands are not steady enough for good close-ups. But I think they're plain enough to see the hideous horror that's been prowling around our yard.
I think he's an escapee from one of the university's fiendish experiments. I've never seen anything quite like the mutant creature I call....
Fugly Bird.

Looks like miniature buzzard. Wonder what happened to his melon?
Whatever. You're right, that is one fugly bird.

Beats anything I've ever seen. His offspring appears to be normal though.

I don't know what to make of the fugly bird, but, until now, I had missed the pics of the balloonfest. Excellent!
We have a balloon fest every year in Jersey. I went once, and I will never forget how wonderful it was.

They have this one every year too. This is the first time we've been able to take him. I think next year we'll arrive a little later. He was tired & ready to leave by the time it got dark....mostly he was tired of being told that he couldn't ride the balloons I suspect. But we had a great time, and the entrance fees & everything went to a good cause--the local children's shelter. So I think we'll go back.
