Some Security
Surveillence video from Dulles show that 4 of the 5 hijackers that hit the Pentagon were pulled aside for additional security checks, but were then allowed to board the plane.
True, at that time you could carry your pocketknife on the plane, but still.
I don't believe airport security is much better now. Do you?
Now I'll prolly get pulled out of line, stripped and body cavity searched when we go to Jamaica.

If they do it will be because they will sense that you, like most Americans, are among the more dangerous people on the plane (planet), but they won't have a sense of "toward what or why" (and it doesn't matter). We are not being attacked by groups of cunningly evil, fiercely brave, or even very intelligent people. Those (ultimately) pathetic creatures stumbled through our sloppy speed bumps and token barriers in hypnotized stupors, almost assisted by the public servants we were paying to weed them out. It took very little effort or skill.
We have never been, nor will we ever be, completely safe from predation. Something (group or country) will always be waiting out there to eat us, or take our land, or kill or defeat us for whatever reason, but historically, we have responded much more effectively to such danger. (If something attacked us, we made it stop. If it didn't stop, we eliminated it). Today, we pretend to have evolved beyond meeting force with greater force and seem to have placed our confidence in intellectual sophistication of our political figures and their agencies (i.e., being a good role model for, and reasoning with, bad people). As a result of the fake sense of fairness that saturates all levels of our political system, they knowingly let monsters in our home (pay for their educations and medical needs?), and help them map the best routes to the most vulnerable parts of our technological infra-structure.
I still know we will win despite the best efforts of our politicians and celebrities. Terrorists won't actually know "fanatic" until they make us sincerely angry as individuals.

I haven't been pulled out & seriously searched since I stopped wearing my denim jacket when we travel. Its metal buttons were setting off the detector enough to get me a second search. Took me a while to figure that out though. D'oh.
First time it happened I cracked up the security lady who was wanding me because I exclaimed "Cool! It really does detect the underwire in my bra. That's awesome!"
