Chutzpah
This warning took a lot of chutzpah, didn't it?
New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer had a blunt warning yesterday for Republicans opening their national convention late next month in New York City: Don't politicize the September 11 terrorist attacks.
"We're going to hear a lot about September 11," Mr. Spitzer said about the upcoming convention. "I say this to the Republican Party: With all respect and all deference, do not dare use 9/11 for political purposes."
Mr. Spitzer goes on to say that neither party should politicize 9/11. I agree, but perhaps it would've been more appropriate for Mr. Spitzer to have directed his remarks to those who made Mikie Moore the unofficial poster boy for the Democrat party during the convention. While 9/11 may not have been directly mentioned, it was certainly not-so-subtly evoked at every possible opportunity....including Mikie seated in the 'presidential' box. The subliminal message everywhere was that 9/11 was Bush's fault. Yet Mr. Spitzer seems to believe the Republicans shouldn't be allowed to respond?
Not bloody likely.
Though it would be hard to top Rudy Guliani's response to questions about whether he'd viewed Mikie's 'masterpiece'.
"I can't tell you. I haven't seen it. I don't really need Michael Moore to tell me about September 11."
Too bad the Dems believed otherwise.

"It would not be fair or right, and we will not let you do it.", Spitzer told delegates to the DNC.
This just makes it worse, given Moore's presence at the DNC. But then it seems to fit with all the Dems talk about no negative campaigning...do as I say not as I do.

So this morooner is taking it upon his self to repeal the 1st amendment? I just ran off some handloads for my 7mm Mag. Anybody got an address? If Mr. Spitzer wants a civil war, I'm up for that. If I can get in the first shot, it won't be a very long one. This Nazi needs to be impeached, his job is to protect the rights of American citizens, not curtail them.

Relax, guys; all this shows is that they know their toast - they've apparantly got some recent internal polling and it shows that "9/11" = "Bush Victory", so they're absurdly trying to scare the GOP away from running on it...if Gore had been elected in 2000 then at this years convention they'd have portrayed him as a demi-god come to earth to lead us to victory....

So instead the Dems are running the Bunny Man, who is 'reporting for duty' to save us. Heh.

How dare Spitzer say that--what the hell is he going to do if the Republicans reference 9/11, arrest them?
Idiot.

No, he won't arrest them. He'll just make sure all the media--starting with the NYT--hissy-fit in extremis.
He wants to be the next governor. That quest will be complicated by Bush still in the White House. He just wants to "even the playing field" by making sure any possible obstacles are removed before he gets into gear.
