New Specific Threats Against US

Tom Ridge is giving a press conference right now. The threat level will be raised to "Orange" for the financial districts of NYC, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. Specific threats from multiple sources have been intercepted; no specific time has been determined except between now and the election.

Specific targets are:

World Bank & IMF in D.C.

Prudential Bldg. in New Jersey

Citigroup Buildings & the Wall Street Stock Exchange in NYC

Security zones may be established around these buildings; underground parking may be limited; security access badges may be necessary; and other added security measures will be taken 'air, land and sea'.

Sounds like they're expecting suicide bombing attacks, doesn't it?

Don't you feel safe? Ah ... this is the sort of security that only tens of billions of dollars and hundreds of American lives lost in Iraq will buy you.

We're no safer than we were the day after 9/11. We're just as insecure, and terrorists are just as likely to strike. In other words, if reducing terrorism was the goal of invading Iraq, we've failed.

But that's not the goal. The goal is to distract us from the fact that a "war on terror" doesn't reduce terrorism. And so far, we've been very distracted from that fact.

So we'll just keep throwning money and American solders at more random dictators. Next will be Iran , or maybe N. Korea. It can't hurt, after all, and they are bad people.

And if you try to point out those aren't actually the bad people we're scared are going to attack downtown Manhattan, we'll just say you're soft on terror.

Hey Aaron, long time no see. How was the bar exam?

And Aaron's answer would be what? Bend over and grab his ankles? That will not stop them from coming and killing him. Aaron they want YOU dead.

In response to a post by you long ago on May 1, 2003 that I came across:

Completely and utterly ignorant. Yes, it ends up doing nothing most of the time, but that's only because war is the biggest business in the country, and damned if you can tell the government to turn that down. These people keep up the fight, even in the face of this. And the reason why the protests that you think were the last "effective" protests, the overly violent ones, were this way, was because no one was being trained for riot control, and rather simply, it was a different time, where things like that could happen. Today we're much more "polite" in respect to this. People are given "free sppech zones" outside of events to protest and such. It seems as though you people should get your heads out of the sand and stop questioning a movement that you should be supporting anyway.

Oh and Bill... You and me will not die today or tomorrow from these guys. I don't feel threatened in the least bit.

I don't know where you live, but where I live, it is difficult to find someone who didn't know someone who was killed on 9/11. I envy your not feeling threatened. I sure as hell do.

I'm sure some of the 3,000 in the WTC felt the same way Andrew. They were tragically mistaken, and so are you.

Andrew: You are positive you won't be murdered today? You have guarantees? I need me one of them......
This more an issue of being safe, not "feeling" safe.
As to which,(or any), movement I should support; I will tell you the same thing I told RCB 20 some years ago when they told me my tune would change after the "revolution", "Welcome, brings friends and come armed; you catch, I'll pitch."
