Wasting Time

I'm waiting around today for the delivery of our giant trash can dumpster. We picked today for the delivery because we thought I would be home all day....then Mike forgot his pager & work badge this morning. And the travel agency just called & I need to go pick up our documents for our trip to Jamaica. But I can't leave because the dumpster company that starts their delivery routes at 3 a.m. hasn't shown up yet.

Grrr. Waiting is definitely not what Tiggers do best.

I was going to pass the time by getting my desktop ready to install the new Windows SP2. It needs some updates from HP installed first, so I downloaded those. They all installed with no problem except the update for the system recovery, which refused to install because it said it couldn't determine which computer I had. Even though I installed the specific update for my model.

Double Grrr.

That delivery guy had better show up soon.

It may be just our laptop (it's the only computer we actually let update to SP2 --- gotta test, test, test!), but if you guys are running (by some odd chance) SQL Server, it stopped mine and it won't start up again ... also, if you play MSN games, some of those no longer work. You would think that updating their OS wouldn't mess with their website .... but, let's not bring logic into the equation.

I think the problem may be that we upgraded my computer to XP Pro after we bought it. I've had similar problems with other HP updates since we did that. We've installed SP2 on Mike's desktop with no problems but it still has the original OS. I don't know why that would cause problems, but it's the only significant difference between the two machines.

Like you say, logic seems to have little to do with it.
