Of Vandals and Visigoths
Speaking of rumors, I've been seeing a lot of discussion around about how Republicans are afraid to put pro-Bush stickers on the vehicles because of vandalism. There may be something to that one after all. I was taking my normal shortcut through a nearby subdivision yesterday when I noticed a yardful of Bush signs.....and a prominently placed, neatly hand-lettered sign that reminded everyone that 'It's a crime to steal political signs'. And it is, just ask that former candidate in Oklahoma who got caught on video tape stealing his opponent's signs.
Not quite totally off topic, but note to the driver of the big SUV that almost backed over me in the WalMart parking lot the other day:
I totally agree with your cute bumper sticker. There is indeed a village in Texas missing its idiot.
I suggest you return there immediately.

Some up here in Eagle County, CO. has been burning down Republican signs that are on private property. I'm not talking small signs either, these are on the order of 4ft x 8ft.

So much for encouraging diversity and 'all voices should be heard', eh?
I can't imagine trespassing & burning someone's private property...but then I was raised better than that.

So were they.........

I don't know, if someone's idiot enough to put a 4x8 sign in their yard, they probably deserve something - but I would think it would be much more fun to spray paint with a subtle change to the message....
Honestly, I think the pro-Bush crowd is just pushing a lot of people over the edge. There are just some of us aroud that really don't want to live in a fascist country anymore. And don't really want to have to move out of the U.S. to achieve that goal.

Donna, I think someone idiot enough to attempt to vandalize my private property deserves at least a good peppering from my shotgun loaded with rock salt....though it might be more fun to just sic our dogs on them. That doesn't mean I should be permitted to do it.
Can you provide 5 examples of how this is a facist country? Ones that demonstrate that you know what the word actually means?
Bill, if they were raised better, they certainly aren't demonstrating it.

Since the above poster droned with the usual memes… I will tell you about life in a “blue state”. I live in Portland Oregon, and there are a lot of anti-Bush/anarchist types around here.
I have had some fortune in life, so I on occasion drive a very high-end vehicle around. This symbol of the plutocrats sets these folks on fire. I have had my tires slashed twice, had my paint keyed. I have had cheeseburgers thrown at me, and random people cursing me out from bus stops, and while driving for no reason at all other than I am driving a symbol, that they despise.
I have seen first hand, that pro-Bush signs placed in a yard on one day, disappear a few days later, or are smashed or defaced.
I have found that there is no one more prone to petty violence than the so called “peace activists”. By petty violence, I mean vandalism, and other property crimes, because in their hearts they are cowards, and cowardly acts are all they are capable of.
Another point, about the 8x6 signs. I see more of those supporting Kerry than Bush, and the last thing on my mind is defacing it. I actually am feeling pity for them. I had an old slogan for this dementia. Intelligence =18, wisdom=3
