Mama Knows Best
A young man in Milwaukee recently found out Mama don't put up with much. (link via Fark)
Police Officers Shawn Burger and Curt Charles were assisting other officers in a car crash about 7 p.m. in 3300 block of N. 1st St. when the suspect, Thomas Smith, began yelling obscenities and racial comments at them as small children looked on, said Inspector Steven Settingsgaard.
When Burger and Charles walked over to Smith to issue him a citation, he ran into his house, Settingsgaard said. Seconds later, his mother pushed him back out the front door.
"She said she didn't need that in her house," Settingsgaard said.
Good for her. Too bad more parents don't make their children accept responsibility for their actions. The result of doing otherwise can be quite nasty.
Take, for example, one of my uncles. 8 kids, and nothing they ever got into was their fault according to him. And they got into a lot, believe me. Let's see if I can remember most of the major stuff.
- The oldest is presently doing 10 yrs. for meth manufacturing.
- Next one died a few years ago from heart problems brought on by years of drug use.
- Next one died at age 16 from huffing deodorant spray.
- Next one has managed to stay out of serious trouble....mostly because he was primarily raised by my great-aunt & uncle.
- Next one did some state time, stealing I think it was.
- Next one is currently a meth addict.
- Next one had a rap sheet as long as your arm, drugs, stealing, assault (beat an old man nearly to death), acquitted of murder (shot an old man), and was found shot to death in his own front yard a couple of years ago in what police suspect was a drug deal gone bad. He was a real sociopath, that one.
- Last one is too lazy to hit a lick at a snake, so he's never been arrested. He draws a disability check because he's 'unable to work'....'unable' as in the world owes him a living so why should he bother working.
See what I mean?

Reminds me of when I got in trouble at school and my mom came into my study hall class and chewed me out. The most embarassing moment of my life - and it straightened me out quick.

Now THAT is one seriously dysfunctional family!

Abe, I once overheard one of my daughter's friends say that she wished she could trade parents with my daughter. My daughter replied "I don't know why. Mom's pretty strict. And she's mean too." LOL She didn't appreciate at the time that kids need rules...and discipline.
Jim, the funny thing is that my mom's other brother's kids turned out about the same way. On the other hand, none of my mom's or her sisters' kids have ever been in serious trouble. We were all too terrified of our mothers. lol
