If I Were King
You know, I understand all the medical (and legal) reasons why I can't write my own prescriptions, but......it still chaps my butt to have to pay almost $70 for a doctor's visit (not to mention wasting an hour of my time) just to get some medicine for yet another damn sinus infection. Let's face it, I've had about as many sinus infections as Carter has little pills. I know the symptoms better than most doctors.
Hell, Sassy can diagnose it before I even have any symptoms. 2-3 days before any drippy green stuff appears, she'll start trying to get me to let her clean out my damn nose. And every time, 2-3 days later, symptoms appear. Maybe I should get her licensed as a pharmacist. Heh.
Or even better, find a doctor whom I could call up & say "Hey, my dog's trying to lick my nose again. Call me in a 'script." And that doctor would say "OK, Rita. Thanks for calling." And send me a bill for $20. Wouldn't that be great?
I'd try that with my present doctor but I suspect she would call in a prescription for me alright.
It wouldn't be for antibiotics though.

Some folks have cancer dogs, you have a snot dog. Hopefully Sassy has other more useful plusses :)

She's really good at shedding massive quantities of dog hair year-round too!
I usually discount such tales because as we all know, dogs lie....especially when rewards are in the offing. But since she doesn't get rewarded for the behavior (in fact she gets yelled at), and she's been correct every single time, I can only guess that she can smell it before I can.
Sassy the Super-Snot-Smelling Dog. *snicker* What a claim to fame.

Sigh...it is frustrating...when you *know* that you (or worse, your child) has a routine, run-of-the-mill ear infection, but you have to go through the whole lengthy process...

I know what you mean. I lost all respect for the medical profession when it once took over 6 weeks to get someone to operate on my daughter's sub-acute appendicitis. I lost all patience with them when her doctor's nurse implied to me that she thought my daughter was faking symptoms in order to get stronger pain meds. Boy did she get an earful! lol And my daughter was promptly referred to a surgeon, who quickly fixed the problem.
In retrospect, I should've done that sooner.
