Ma Said No!
Had to stop at the store on the way home with WildChild to pick up a few things....and made the mistake of letting him ride in the cart that looks like a car. What marketing genius thought that damn thing up? Every few feet he was yelling Stop! and bailing out because "he needed to look at something." I had managed to limit him to a couple of cheap movies & a glowstick until we went past the lamp aisle.
He bailed out and I spent a good 20 minutes convincing him we didn't need a flashing red light, or a lava lamp. I almost had him back in the cart when he spied a disco light.
"Ma look! I need that."
"What do you need that for," I asked.
"I need that so I can dance in the living room" he answered.
When I could finally stop laughing, I told him no. Absolutely not. But it was tempting just to see the show he'd put on.
John Travolta he ain't.

The positive dynamics that an uninhibited (yet civilized)child can interject into a family are often amazing. You are visible in him as he is visible in you, and you are both fortunate.
Off the subject, but I just watched Gov. Mike Huckabee on C-Span. I've never heard him speak before, but I watched the entire segment (very unusual), and felt very comfortable listening to him. He seems like a normal human with a real life. I don't know what the choices were, but think that the people of Arkansas made a good one.

Observing the way his mind works is fascinating...and entertaining. Never a dull moment when that little lad is around, that's for sure.
Our Rev. Gov. does a pretty good job. He's done some things I don't particularly like, like the Body Mass Index reports on schoolchildren. (I think we have more important problems in schools than telling parents their kids are fat.) But overall, he's been the best of a bad lot.
