Winner and Still Champion

So I went back to the doctor yesterday because my hand/arm nerve thing isn't any better....in fact, in some respects it's worse. Apparently, I'm a winner in this month's Stump the Staff game, as they have no idea what's causing my problems. Seems there's two separate & distinct nerves involved.....and since I don't play any sports, don't do repetitive motion activities and haven't had an injury of any kind, no one has any idea what the hell is going on.

Not exactly what you want to hear in my situation. Because, you know, pain freaking hurts and I'm ready for this to go away yesterday. Imagine feeling like you've hit your funny bone really hard on something sharp.....24/7. Yeah. Not fun.

Now I'm to be sent to a neurologist to get Tasered nerve conductivity tests to determine the extent and possible origin of the damage so my doc can (hopefully) figure out how to treat this.

Doesn't that sound like a party in your pants?

I just can't freaking wait.

UPDATE: Wow, that was fast. I'd been told it could take up to a month to get an appointment. Nope. They just called. Monday @ 1 o'clock. Zzzzap! Zing! Zowie!

The Spousal Unit™ had something similar that ended up to be bone spurs growing into her spinal cord in her neck (between C3 and C4, as I recall). It mostly affected her shoulder and her arm.

She'd learned to work around it over the years, and her tricep on one side was significantly weaker.

After she got them removed, and a plate installed, it was like a whole new arm for her.

I suspect that's at least the problem with my wrist, that there's a bone spur there rubbing on the nerve. At least that's what it feels like anyway.

Glad to know there's a successful treatment for it, if that is what it is. Right now I'd do just about anything to make it go away.

So, are the nerve conductivity tests as bad as they sound? Cuz as much as just a mere physical exam makes this hurt, I'm not looking forward to being poked with needles carrying an electrical current.

I don't think they ever did nerve conductivity tests on her. Seems to me something like that would ring a bell.

But then again, it seems that lately, my internal database is getting corrupted data, and seek times are far longer than they should be. Maybe I need to rebuild my indexes or something.

I know what you mean. I'm getting way too many "path not found" errors myself lately. It's really annoying when I can't remember the names of simple things, like "garbage disposal" or "engine throttle". Maybe a good stiff jolt of electricity will cause a reboot & fix that. I'd give myself a Ctrl-Alt-Del if I could just figure out how.

I imagine it'll be like the electro-acupuncture I had once. Unpleasant but not unbearable.

It's weird how those things can happen. I have had tennis elbow for the last 6-7 years. I don't play tennis nor use it for anything repetitive. the tennis elbow, in turn, make my wrist and my pinky finger hurt. Fortunately, the pain is on and off, so I just deal with it.

I know what you mean. I've had golfer's elbow for years, and have never even played golf. (Well, I used to play putt-putt with my kids when they lived at home, but I'm told that's not really golf.) It's really weird to wake up and have your ring & pinkie fingers and half your hand numb too.

heh...

At least I know why I hurt. I still have the Xrays of the fractures and dislocations to remind me.

Doesn't make it any less painful though when a cold front comes through.

Well, you have my sympathy mate. Doesn't that feel Better? ( have you tried alternative medecine? You know sometimes they have answers for stuff like this. )

We've a running family joke that my mother's cure for everything is to put aloe vera on it & call the chiropractor. I've tried various alternative medicines. A few worked, most didn't.
