Lost In Translation
All the recent fuss around here....me with doctors** & Mike with tech support....got me thinking about those little phrases we all use when we're too polite or too constrained by circumstance to bluntly say what we're really thinking.
One of Mike's is "Have a nice day." Translation: "You're a f*cking moron & I'm tired of wasting my time talking to you. Go away."
One of mine is "Is that so? Hmmm." Translation: "You're an idiot, aren't you? It shows."
What's some of your favorite phrases and their translations?
Latest update is that I have an appointment with an internal medicine specialist on Friday....arranged by a doctor with whom my daughter works.

Well, this is my favorate "Hmmm, that's very interesting." Translation: "That has got to be the stupidest idea I've ever heard."

A common Minnesota phrase is "that's different."
Translates to "I really really REALLY hate that."

"The way you might want to think about that, is ..." which means what you just said was a load of quano, and I can't believe anyone as stupid as you works here.

Hehe. I've used most of those too. Another favorite I stole from Mike:
"That's not entirely accurate, is it?" Translation: "That was a bold-faced lie, wasn't it?"
According to my kids I have another one:
"I'll think about it." Translation: "No, you can't do...."
OTOH, I had them convinced for years that I really did have eyes in the back of my head. They're still not entirely sure even now that I don't.
