Local Katrina Donations
If you'd like to find recommendations to help victims of Hurrican Katrina, check out Prof. Reynold's Carnival of Hurricane Relief. Or here's some good places in NW Arkansas to make donations and/or volunteer:
- Springdale Red Cross, which has opened a shelter for some of the victims.
- Channel 40/29 will be hosting a telethon all day today. All donations will go to the American Red Cross Natural Disaster Relief Fund.
- Channel 5 has a list of local places that are accepting donations, including:
---Sebastian Co. Humane Society, for animals displaced by Katrina.---United Blood Services in Ft. Smith is asking for blood donations.
---Area Health Education Clinic (AHEC) is asking for medical professionals to volunteer for a free clinic in Ft. Smith that has been set up for victims of Katrina. Call 479-785-2431 to help.
- KNWA will be accepting donations for the American Red Cross at a booth at the NWA Mall through Friday.
- Call 1-800-HELP-NOW or visit the KNWA to volunteer for relief efforts. There will be a training session Friday in Tontitown.
- Many local churches are also accepting donations. Check with your pastor.
I'll update when I find more.
