Sad

I know you all will be as saddened by this as I.

Jane Fonda told me yesterday she's scrapped plans for anti-war bus trip next March. As well, Fonda will be making only two appearances this month on another rally with controversial British politician George Galloway, not the eight that were widely misreported in the press yesterday.

Let there be great wailing and gnashing of teeth. Jihad Jane doesn't "want to distract people from Cindy Sheehan's bus trip".

Her upcoming European promotion of her autobiography had nothing to do with her decision.

Really. Honest.

What does that tell you about the anti-war movement these days, if it cannot support two simultaneous bus tours around the country? There's a real groundswell of support, I can tell.

I watched her on a talk show recently and she said that her first husband took advantage of her low self-esteem and almost almost overwhelming desire to be loved, and cleverly manipulated them to the point that order to feel like a woman, and one who he would keep, she found herself procuring other women for group sex with them, WITHOUT HIM EVEN REQUESTING OUT LOUD THAT SHE DO SO. I almost felt sorry for her. Not because of the lurid actions, but because that is all she has. Of all the places she had the opportunity to go, that's where she went.

wow I'm just crying here that she's cancelled it!!!! Tears are rolling. *rolls eyes*

Good point Wulf, hadn't thought about that. Though I've noticed here the anti-war crowd has dwindled to about 20 or so on a good day.

It's ok Tam, you'll still have a chance to see the Cindy tour when it comes through Little Rock...minus Cindy of course. Hehe.

Kenneth, that is just sad. Seriously, it is. What a waste of opportunities.

This says much about an anti-war mentality that draws its cells from an American cerebrum that cannot see reality till it is decorated with fairy lights and a celebrity smiling benevolently from the treetop.

It's time to rally around ideas rather than people. It seems to affect every aspect of American life. The most 'legitimate' example of this is in the cult of the Presidential Institution which posits a single individual as the face of democracy.

I've never understood the cult of celebrity myself, Inquisitor. It always seemed to me that most have more than a little touch of mental illness. And the more famous they become, the more the line between reality & the roles they play become blurred.

Not all. Mel Gibson comes to mind, or Clint Eastwood.

Oooh I won't get to see cindy either? Well damn there goes my day! *wink*

Sorry to ruin it for you Tam. ;-)

Tom Selleck as well, Bill. Or for an older example, Robert Mitchum.
