I've Been From OKC To Tucumcari

We've made it to Tucumcari just fine....me, my daughter and one of her cats. Both were surprisingly well-behaved. Her car handled well, and was pretty comfortable.

No interesting tales so far. Oklahoma was very windy. Texas Panhandle was very flat. It was too dark to see New Mexico by the time we got here.

Wasn't that exciting?

I hope tomorrow is just as uneventful.

Just to the Northwest of Tucumcari is a huge mesa that you can see from anywhere in the town. My sister and her husband have a beautiful ranch right at the base of it. They raise cattle, goats, and some donkeys that she rescued, and it is one of my favorite places in the world. Actually her husband is as old as Mr. Bill (of Mr. Bill's Pond), and moves even slower (yes, that is possible - my younger sisters married much older men), so she does all of the ranch work now, but it doesn't seem to have damaged her any. In her spare time she is supervisor of the Quay County women's detention facility. You should have decent weather through most of the state but try to get through the Big I (I-40/I-25 interchange) before rush hour traffic in the afternoon. Too bad you don't have time to cut up through Santa Fe. It does have some negative aspects, but the plaza is worth experiencing. It actually feels 600 years old. Enjoy yourself.

Thanks Kenneth. I'll look for it when we leave. I can't wait to see the rest of the state this morning....if my daughter ever wakes up. Looks like it's going to be a beautiful day for the most part.
