Cool Wind

A couple of tornadoes touched down in El Reno, Oklahoma, yesterday. Which is not cool, but this video of one of them is.

What this news story doesn't mention, but I heard on one of the local stations last night, is that this particular tornado was 1 in a 1,000. If you look closely, the tornado is rotating clockwise instead of counter-clockwise as 99.9% of tornadoes do.

Interesting.

Saw this on the news, but as you said they didn't mention the rotating and I certainly didn't notice.

I wouldn't have noticed if the newscaster hadn't made such a big deal about it. It was pretty weird looking.

How the heck did that happen? I've always thought that the direction of rotation of a cyclone (or tornado, or bathtub water) was determined by the hemisphere you are in.

I guess rules are made to be broken!

It had something to do with it forming differently than most tornadoes. I didn't really understand that part.

It's probably Bush's fault.

He didn't sign Kyoto, you know.

Isn't everything?

Funny you should mention that. Mike's been in Central America the last 2 weeks, and he's decided some environmental laws are a good thing. Air pollution was pretty bad where he's been. That's probably Bush's fault as well.
