He Didn't Just Say That

Apparently he did.

“If I were to say some of it is driven by just sheer racism, I think I would be telling you the truth, Huckabee said as he shared sandwiches and salad with close to 20 national and regional political reporters.

“I’m not saying everybody who is very, very angry [about immigration ] is a racist. I want to be very clear about that. But I’ve had conversations with people, and it became evident what they really didn’t like is that people didn’t look like them, didn’t talk like them and didn’t celebrate the holidays they do, and they just had a problem with it.

If disliking those who break the law makes me racist, then yep. I'm a hardcore racist. Frankly I don't care if an illegal immigrant is pea purple polka-dotted. They are breaking the law. I have sworn an oath, two of them in fact, to uphold the Constitution, the laws of the United States, and the laws of the states of Arkansas and Oklahoma.

Apparently that means more to me than it does to our Rev. Gov.

And this man is thinking about running for the presidency?

He said he knows that fundraising will become paramount if he decides to run. He said he had a plan for that.

“I’ve got a map of 7-11 s, a bunch of blue-steel revolvers and ski masks. We’re going to go all over the country and raise money in a very unique way.

What a sense of humor. Ha. Ha.

Just what we need in the White House. [/sarcasm]

What infuriates me is the reporting on the "pro-immigration" folks. What they really mean is "pro-illegal immigration" folks. I know that I have absolutely no problem with someone wanting to come here and try to have a better life. What I do have a problem with is when they try to do this outside the boundaries of the law. It's blatantly unfair to those following the rules to try and change the law to allow illegal folks to stay.

Exactly. I have no problem with legal immigration, in fact, I've even done one for a client. Is it a long, drawn-out, paperwork intensive process? Sure. But why shouldn't it be? If I'm not mistaken, it's 'give us your tired, poor', etc. 'yearning to be free'. Not 'your criminals, gang-bangers, drug lords and terrorists yearning to rob, rape and kill'.

As for the protestors, if they'd put half that energy into reforming their own freaking countries, they wouldn't need to leave to make a decent living.

On the issue of protests; most governments here won't allow that sort of open protest. I live here and know that for which I speak. Please examine the level of incredible arrogance required to enter a country illegally then DEMAND rights and special treatment to which you are NOT entitled. You can tell much about the structure, health and benevolence a culture by how it treats the poorest members of it's society. Mexicans? They push them onto someone else. You, actually. And don't think that this is just a problem with Mexican society. This is a problem with the fuedal patron system of Latin culture, in general. The protests are a "wake up call", to Americans and nothing more than another example of the unwillingness for illegals to accept ANY other system of order than their own. ("ME FIRST! GET THE HELL OUT OF MY WAY!") I know you don't believe me, but be warned.

No argument here Bill. Like I said last night when Mike mentioned they were threatening to sue over the Guard on the border, that'd take some brass huevos wouldn't it? Talk about chutzpah.

But think of the endangered species that might injure.
