Random Stuff

--Much speculation over whether the Norks actually set off a nuke or not. At any rate, now they're threatening to fire a nuclear missile if the US doesn't....do something or other. You know, one of our neighbors has a dog like that. It's always yip, yip, yipping at every little sound....as long as it's safe behind the fence.

--Speaking of duds, had a visit with a rheumatologist this morning. I've concluded she's A) a waste of my time; B) a waste of our insurer's money; and C) a waste of oxygen....like 99.9% of the rheumatologists I've seen in the last 20 yrs. I mean seriously. Would you tell a patient that their knee DJD was caused by tight hamstrings?

--And speaking of dogs, I'm trying an oil supplement that's supposed to keep the dogs from shedding so much. Sassy was like, oh you want me to eat that well it smells kinda funny but ok. Sollie of course was highly suspicious that it was not something pugs like best. Me, I just hope it doesn't cause them 'digestive difficulties'.

Shedding is much easier to clean up.

Is it just me, or is NW Arkansas lacking in Physicians with an IQ above that of room temprature?

I have yet to find anyone for my daughter who i trust worth a damn.

I recently spent 3 hours at her pediatrician arguing over the needt to either: A have her retake a bloodtest because it came out quote end quote "odd" or B: Slam a under age 2 child with 2 types of antibiotics and same sort of chemical cocktail they couldn't tell me totally what it would do.

I argued for the blood test.

"Oh but it will cause her some discomfort!"
I argued for the test.

She got her test. The test came back negative. Nothing "odd" about it.

Infuiriating!!

No it's not just you, and I don't think it's confined to NWA. My sister & mom's had the same experience with Little Rock rheumatologists.

I think it's partly cuz they're afraid to do anything lest they be sued, and partly cuz they're taught in med school to rely more on 'tests' and less on common sense & experience. Don't even get me started on why it took 6 wks. for someone to finally operate on my daughter's sub-acute appendicitis. And that was only after I totally lost my temper with one of her doctor's staff. It wasn't pretty. But it was effective.

It's really hard to find a good doctor of any kind these days....which is why I'm now driving to Gentry to see my family doctor after he moved there from F-ville, instead of trying to find someone here. (if you want his contact info, just lemme know) If it wasn't so far to drive, I'd start going back to my family doctor in Marshall to treat my joint problems. He did more for me than all the rheumatologists I've seen. But then he's an old Navy doc. He's seen a thing or three.

Sure!! Send it! So far the only doctor I've found I really like is my VA Doc (thats a scary thought) but no one else in my house can use him but me.
