This, That & the Other Thing
--Those damned inept Presbyterians are at it again. Cue the inevitable "Bend Over, Please Sir May We Have Another" in 5...4...3...2...ah, here it is.
--Buried at the end of this piece on the new state legislation taking effect today was this POS:
Act 696 creates a 20-member commission to study issues related to global warming. The commission also will be responsible for developing a plan for reducing pollutants that contribute to climate change.
Sponsored of course by a Little Rock Democrat. Expect, after several years of expensive studies, bans on anything fun. Like bulldozing trees then burning the resulting lifeless bodies in a huge bonfire which you've started with gasoline. Glad to know our tax dollars are spent on something useful and not frivolities like building more juvenile mental health facilities so there won't be a waiting list a mile long. [/sarcasm]
--Speaking of bans, didja know fireworks on a stick are banned in Bentonville? Luckily it's rained enough lately that we'll not have to worry about setting the neighborhood on fire this year. At least our neighbors are really nice here. If they're not helping set them off, most are out on their porches enjoying the show.
--And speaking of neighbors, we had a little Stray Cat Jive yesterday afternoon. There's a little alcove between our garage & the neighbor's fence, which I've turned into a little shade garden. I was checking it when I discovered a little kitty crouching in the corner. A desperately scared, mostly feral little kitty I also discovered, b/c of course I started to pick the little feller up....until he (she?) commenced to hissing & growling ferociously. I couldn't coax him/her out, so I got it some food & water, which it devoured as soon as I got out of sight.
It disappeared by the time I finally decided to try to catch it & take care of it until we could find it a home. I should've just put on some leather gloves & caught the stupid thing as soon as I found it b/c later in the evening, our neighbor came over & said it had gotten between her garden fence & dog fence & she couldn't get it out. And her little yappy dogs were going nuts trying to get at it. I guess she finally got it out somehow, b/c her dogs finally shut up. It was a cute little thing, long-haired sorta tabby but looking suspiciously like the big Maine coon tomcat we see roaming around the neighborhood. Oh well, I'm sure it'll show up again. Every cat in the neighborhood seems to think our carefully mulched fenceline is their own private litter box. And I'd never shoot them with my handy-dandy air soft pistol to discourage them.
*blinks innocently*
Why I might put their eye out. Oh wait, there's no eyes on THAT end of a cat.
