Flooding & Fireworks
One thing's for sure, we won't have to worry about setting the neighborhood on fire this July 4th. And as opposed to last year's drought, that's mighty fine. One thing I particularly dislike about this holiday is the inevitable 'you'll put your eye out' news articles. F'n duh. Fireworks explode. Fire hot.
That there is what I call a 'self-correcting' problem. Let'em be kids. They gotta learn sometime that actions have consequences....and the earlier they learn it, the less work I have. Or as my mom used to put it, "If you ain't got no better sense than to do that, you deserve what you get."
Just full of tough love she was.
That isn't an entirely bad thing, as I learned to be self-sufficient at an early age....which was one of her goals I reckon.
Self-sufficient and I got the scars to prove it.

I know people who have damaged or lost body parts through falling from high places without a net, walking through glass doors, walking into wooden doors, falling out of moving cars, and falling off of ski-lifts; and others who have suffered damaged or lost body parts from being shot, stabbed, and beaten with and without clubs, but I have never met anyone who put their eye out with a firecracker.

Me either, though my dad always freaked when we shot off firecrackers. A friend had lost a couple of fingers when they were kids when one went off in his hand. I could never make him believe that firecrackers weren't that powerful these days.
Our only casuality last night was me...burned my finger moving one that I thought had cooled off. WildChild did pick up a smoke bomb that hadn't quite cooled, but he quickly dropped it saying Hey that's hot! I replied Son, things that have been on fire usually are.
