I Can Haz Kittyz?
One of our case coordinators spoke up as I walked by her desk this morning "Hey Rita there's a kitten in the kitchen if you want it."
Me: "Huh????"
Seems as my co-counsel pulled into our parking lot this morning, she noticed this little guy valiantly trying to make it across the street. In traffic. So she and/or the case coordinator caught it before it could get splattered and put it securely in an empty file storage box in the kitchen.
Well of course I had to see it. I opened the lid and there sat a tiny little kitty that looked exactly like Smokey. I figure he's about 6 weeks old. He bravely hissed at me as he desperately tried to hide in the corner of the box.
Aaaawww, he was so cute!
Our case coordinator explained she'd been calling around trying to find a shelter that would take him. No dice. They were all full, and she'd couldn't find anyone else who would take him. So I texted Mike, explained the situation and asked "i can haz kitty?"
Mike, knowing what a sucker I am for the abandoned & mistreated, said sure. And yeah, I needed another cat like a hen needs a flag. But I couldn't just let him get put to sleep. So now he's upstairs quarantined in the cat carrier since I wasn't able to find a vet to examine him today.
If he survives, and once I get him cleaned up, vaccinated etc. I'll have to post some photos. Right now he's terrified & not feeling too well, so that'll have to wait. And he'll have to have a name. Everyone at work said I should name him "Main Street" b/c that's where he was found. I dunno about that. I'm thinking Cicero...or maybe Chollo. Or how about Vato del Gato?
HeHe. I kinda like that.
