Proceed With Caution

Because the family farm is titled in my name, from time to time I get mailers from companies interested in 'helping' me make some money by harvesting all those trees. My response to all is the same:

GIT OFF MY PROPERTY!

I figure we don't need the money at the moment *knocks on wood* and unless they get a red oak boarer infestation, them trees ain't going nowhere. A kind of a hillbilly savings account you might say.

But recently I received a different kind of mailer....from the Arkansas Forestry Association. 'Let us help you' properly manage your timberland it says. It has all the PC phrases:

'sustain your connection to the land'

'protecting the environment'

'national Sustainable Forestry Initiative'

'protect....scenic value'

Mmm hmmm I know what that means. 'Let us take over your land' that's what that means.

There's even a postage-paid card to request assistance. Printed on recycled paper of course. Alas, there is no box to check for 'GIT THE F*CK OFF MY PROPERTY'.

So in the trash it will go.

I figured that you would just send it back blank on their dime. :)

"Let us help you ....."

Ha!

After I remembered the post office wouldn't deliver it taped to a brick, I was sorely tempted to write a note saying how I was incredibly offended by their suggestion that a mere woman was unable to properly manage her own property. Hit 'em with their own PC catchphrases I say & watch 'em squirm.

But I decided it wasn't worth the effort, and I didn't want to remain on their mailing list. So I pitched it....didn't even recycle it either.
