If you ain't from around here, you may not get this. But I thought it was hilarious.

Don't you hate when people post insider jokes?

For the Record

Sassy would never do this. She always goes for the throat.

Cuz she's a Good Dog.

Heath Out

Coach Stan Heath is out as the b-ball coach at the UofA. Which should surprise no one, as even I knew that was coming.

It's a shame really. He's not a bad coach, just never seemed to step up here. And there's one thing you can definitely give him credit for:

His players weren't constantly in jail.

Considering some of his predecessors, that's a big improvement. And not a bad legacy.

It's a Baby!

Our newest granddaughter made her arrival around 3 a.m. 7 lbs. 3 oz. and she has her mother's temper. God help us all.

B.O.L.O.

If you feed your cat or dog wet food, you might want to check here to see if it's been recalled. Apparently a major supplier has gotten reports of pets getting sick (and even dying) after eating certain products.

I've just checked ours, and they're ok. Mr. Kitty was quite surprised when I piled all his favorite foods on the table just now, and ran over to 'help'. By 'help' I mean 'walking back & forth between me & the spreadsheet I was trying to read, while purring loudly and rubbing against each pouch as I picked it up to read the UPC then against my face completely blocking my view'.

Mr. Kitty sure lurves his food.

And it has to be the cheap stuff. I've tried the more expensive brands, and he & the other cat just sniff it briefly and then look at me like "You don't expect me to eat this crap do you? Not happening."

Not that I'm complaining, mind you.

Godspeed M'ijo

In a few short hours, my son will be winging his way to warmer climes, i.e., The Big Sandbox.

Wish him well.

Beware the Ides of March

And I did, for all the good it did.

Regular blogging will resume as soon as I get all these knives out of my back.

The Boob Room

So I had to take off work this morning for some 'follow-up' medical tests (I'm fine btw). You can guess from the title what those were. Anyway, I'm taken back out into a 'ladies only' waiting area so I don't have to change out of my tastefully hot pink gown while they check to see if they need even more pictures. I sit down to wait, and discover to my horror that they've thoughtfully stocked this waiting area with all kinds of magazines made for women.....women unlike me that is.

My choices were things like Oprah, People, Cottage Living. Not anything readable like Car & Driver, Guns & Ammo, or even a Field & Stream in sight. Hmmm, I thought. Overlooking an important female minority here, mainly me. But it was much much worse than nothing to read. I glanced at the tv, since FoxNews plays on most of the tvs in that facility.

Sweet Mother of God, it was tuned to Good Morning America. And I couldn't find the remote or reach the tv to change it.

I don't think I've ever been so glad to get out of a place & back to work in my life.

Why?

Because it felt so good when they stopped.

Needs More ClueBells

Our intrepid Matt covered yesterday's Peace March....complete with photos. My favorite? Whomever carried this as they walked up highly gentrified Dickson St. I mean seriously people. Look around you. All that wasn't created by a multi-cultural autonomous collective of free spirits.

More here and here

As I predicted, no giant paper mache puppet heads, though there's a lame attempt. And they drag this thing out for every march, though I have no idea exactly what the hell it's supposed to represent. The Bird Ghost of Peace Marches Past perhaps.

Or maybe it once won the grand prize for the Most Creative Recycling of Poster Board & Sheets. Whatever.

As I flipped through the photos, I kept having the same recurring thought I always have when viewing such stupidity:

If we lose the war, these foolish, deluded people will be the first against the wall.

And they just don't get that.

Spring This

Oh how I hate Daylight Savings Time.

But you're getting an extra hour of daylight.

No. No I'm not. I still have to be at work the same time, so all it really means is that it's still daylight while I'm getting ready for bed which makes it harder to fall asleep. And that it's now dark-30 when I leave for work in the mornings. So all it really does is screw with my Circadian rhythm, which I've only just gotten into an acceptable pattern, i.e., sleeping 7-8 hrs. most nights.

Memo to Congress: LEAVE ME ALONE

Jerks.

Plan Ahead

I'm sure this sounded like a good idea....but they forgot one little detail.

How are you going to cut off the last one?

Nonstory of the Week

I've been staying out of politics so far because frankly at this point, I just don't care. But this is ridiculous. (via Fark)

In a 15-month stretch of a three-year stay at Harvard Law school that ended in 1991, Obama racked up 17 violations totaling $140, including overtime parking, illegal use of resident parking areas, and parking at a bus stop, a $15 fine back then.

*rolls eyes* Big deal. You know how many law students, yours truly included, 'racked up' parking violations? Non-payment at our school was so bad that the school finally refused to release one's diploma until all tickets were paid.

C'mon Hillary. Surely you can do better than that.

Tater Planting Time

I've always been told that one should plant one's taters on St. Patrick's Day for the best crop. Since we've no taters to plant, we might show up at this:

NWA BLOG BASH

I'll have to pass on the 'drinking green beer' thing though.

Monday, Monday

I bet I've walked 5 miles today....in heels. My feet hurt.

I think I'm going to have to steal an Irish motto from my neighbor:

Ready for anything and prepared for nothing.

That is so my job.

So, how was your day?

Hush Hush The Goracle's Close By

We just had a brief snow flurry....and the sun's out. The Goracle must've just flown over.

It wouldn't be the first time I've seen daffodils in full bloom covered in snow. Climate change my ass.

There's nothing new under the sun.
