Classic WildChild

While we were visiting my Dad Saturday, WildChild began questioning me about how BabyGirl (my daughter's daughter) was related to me.

"Is BabyGirl your niece Ma?"

"No, she's my granddaughter."

"Like I'm your grandson?"

"Yes, just like that."

"Oh," says WildChild. "So she's your granddaughter and I'm your...hey look! A Butterfly!!!!"

And yes, if you look up ADHD in the dictionary, there's his photo.

When the Red Red Robin Goes A-Duh-Duh-Dive Bombing Along

Sollie hates robins. They are the only animal that arouses his limited predator instinct. He chases every one he sees. So when I had him out for a walk in our back yard the other evening & found a couple of fledglings, he was all about checking them out...very cautiously of course b/c they could be DANGEROUS. After a while, I noticed one of the neighbor's cats sneaking into the yard, and even though I knew it was futile, I ran the cat off & tried to herd the fledglings up closer to the house to postpone the inevitable.

Which of course made one of them start screeching & flapping its wings furiously trying to get away from me. I was then attacked by 4 pissed off adult robins, who took turns dive-bombing my head, flogging me with their wings, and trying to peck me. Me, I'm lmao & trying to shoo them away. Sassy is freaking out, trying her best to break her tie-out lease so she can get over there to protect me. And Sollie?

Sollie's standing there about 2 feet away from me, watching the attack quite nonchalantly, like "Wow, look at that. That's mildly interesting. When you get done, can we go back in the house & get my treat?"

Thanks for nothing, you bug-eyed freak of nature. No treats for you tonight.

It's Back to Work We Go

We did have a wonderful time, despite the fact that we made our connection in Chicago on the way down. And our luggage did not...until 3 days later.

American Airlines sux.

But the cruise line did everything possible to assist us, and we managed to have fun anyway....though buying replacement swimsuits on a cruise ship is a wee bit expensive. Can you say filing a claim with the airline for reimbursement? I sure as hell can.

I can also say if you're in the middle of the Bermuda Triangle & have a chance to go ice skating, you should definitely do it.

So I did. Photos to follow when I get time.

What Can I Say

It's spring, when young peoples' thoughts turn to...getting into trouble. And my thoughts turn to...

VACATION!

We're leaving today. 7 sun-kissed days with no cell phone.

I can't wait.
